Luke is a very special dog and one that made a lasting impression on me.
When I first met Luke I had to ask his owners to put my muzzle on him as in his house he was impossible to meet and the aggression was uncontrollable. He had been to two trainers and one respected behaviorist and all had given up on him. His owners feared they had no more hope left for Luke.
Luke appeared hard to read but mostly due to his ghostly look. On the inside he was a goofy brat with a clownish personality that would make me laugh out loud every time I was around him. We got along great, even minutes after the muzzle scenario - I had taken it off and me and Luke were buddies.
He did great in Boot Camp and the retraining part for Dave and Nancy, although never easy, was a breath of fresh air for them.
Today Luke is much more manageable. He has learned about respect at home and outside and replies to commands much more willingly. His confidence has grown positively in all the right areas and other "macho" traits have subsided.
This will be an ongoing endeavor for the Erickson's but Luke is still around with us and he's much happier and so are his owners.
A success story nonetheless!
Issues Before Training: Pulls on lead, won't come, nipping, jumping, barking, aggressive.
