A Boot Camp Story: Chappy

Meet Chappy - a 7 month old English Bulldog from Orlando, FL. When Chappy's owners called us they needed a quick fix for their out of control, full of energy and selective hearing Bully. Chris (his "daddy") mentioned almost every problem on the list and the fact that they had a small child wasn't making matters any better. He requested that we do whatever it took to get Chappy to listen to commands, stay in spite of distractions and to generally behave.

Since Chappy and his family lived in Orlando, his owners had to make the drive and drop him off with us, as well as agree to finish taking their part of the lessons after he was done with Boot Camp training. Everyone agreed and Chappy was ours for 10 days. He proved to be a very smart little boy (even though his owners questioned it sometimes). He eagerly learned the new rules and accepted leadership once we proved to him it was worth it! Below are pictures of his progress.

Chappy went home on the exact scheduled date completely off-leash Level III trained and problem free (pulling, not coming, jumping up, destructive, barking, chewing, digging, biting, humping, begging, bolting out the doors and selective hearing CURED). I went to see him in Orlando a few months later and needless to say it made his day. He was in fact so happy to reunite with his first leader that he tried to jump in my car when I was getting ready to leave the Oliver's.

A Word from Chappy's Owners

"Deb and I would like to extend our sincerest 'thank you' for the amazing job you did training Chappy. I have to admit, despite your claim that you could train 'any dog', we were skeptical and, of course, believed that our dog would be the exception to your rule. How wrong we were!

In just 10 short days, you turned our little monster into the nicest, most disciplined English Bulldog in Orlando. Both his indoor and outdoor behavior have been modified 180 degrees and the time we used to spend chasing and yelling is now spent petting and playing. Quite frankly, our home is a much nicer, warmer place to be with Chappy under control. And just in time for the holidays! Even our 18 month old daughter agrees--she now lets us know that it's time for "night-night" by curling-up in Chappy's bed with him.

Before we sought your services, we were at our wits end and were very close to finding a new home for Chappy. The thought of giving him away really bummed us out because, at his core, we knew that Chappy was a very sweet puppy--he was just out of control. And besides, we wanted our daughter to grow up around animals like both of us did. We just didn't have the time, patience or skills to break his bad behaviors. Fortunately, you did. Now Chappy is in our family to stay!
